Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Kazan Denies False Reports About Detention of Citizen
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kazan has denied information circulating on social media claiming that an Uzbek citizen has allegedly been held for 45 days in a temporary detention center for foreign nationals in Kazan.
According to the results of a verification, the individual in question is M.A., born in 1983. Administrative measures were not applied in Kazan but in the Ozyinsky District of Saratov Oblast on 2 August 2025, by a local police officer, A.Sh., under Part 1.1 of Article 18.8 of the Russian Federation Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the stay regime in the country). By decision of the authorities, M.A. was held administratively liable and subjected to enforced deportation from Russia.
It was also reported that on 11 July 2025, M.A. had already been held accountable under the same article. His foreign passport showed signs of forged stamps indicating border crossings into Russia, and the document has been sent for examination.
On 2 September, the Consulate General received a request from the Saratov Oblast migration service to issue a certificate for returning the citizen to Uzbekistan. The request was promptly reviewed and approved. The responsible migration service official is expected to arrive in Kazan soon to complete all procedures.
The Consulate General continues to monitor the situation and takes all necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of the citizen.
