Uzbekistan’s Cement Imports Plunge 8.6-Fold in January–September 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan imported 72,000 tons of cement worth US$4.4 million from 13 countries in January–September 2025, 8.6 times less than during the same period in 2024.

The volume of imports declined by 548,100 tons, reflecting a significant expansion of domestic cement production and the country’s growing self-sufficiency in the construction sector.

The largest suppliers of cement were: Kazakhstan — 33,739 tons; Iran — 31,218 tons; Kyrgyzstan — 2,653 tons; Tajikistan — 2,516 tons; Russia — 1,152 tons; and other countries — 755 tons.

Experts attribute the sharp decline in imports to the growth of domestic cement industry capacities, as well as the introduction of new production lines and the modernization of existing plants.
