Uzbekistan’s Car Imports Drop by 22% in Jan-Oct
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Imports of passenger cars to Uzbekistan fell noticeably in January–October 2025, while supplies of electric vehicles, on the contrary, showed a sharp increase, according to data from the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Committee’s statistics, the total volume of passenger car imports over the first ten months of this year amounted to US$921 million, which is 22.2% less than during the same period in 2024, when the figure reached US$1.18 billion.
Electric vehicles have become the main driver of the car market. Between January and October 2025, Uzbekistan imported 47,300 electric cars worth US$544.1 million. Compared to the previous year, this represents more than a twofold increase in quantity and a 153% rise in value (in 2024 — 22,200 vehicles worth US$215.2 million).
Meanwhile, imports of gasoline-powered cars dropped sharply. During the reporting period, 15,400 vehicles worth US$310.5 million were imported — a decline of 49% in volume and 52.5% in value compared to the same period last year.
A steep decline was also recorded in the hybrid car segment: imports fell from 16,000 to 2,600 units, while total value dropped from US$310.5 million to US$64 million, representing an almost 80% decrease.
Imports of diesel passenger cars remain minimal. In January–October 2025, 96 such vehicles worth US$2.3 million were brought into the country, compared to 20 units worth US$4.9 million a year earlier.
