Uzbekistan's Ambassador Meets with Turkmenistan's Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's Ambassador Ravshanbek Alimov held a meeting with Turkmenistan's Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agakhanov, the Dunyo news agency reports.

During the talks, the parties discussed pressing issues relating to the further development of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, including joint activities planned for the current year in this area.

Particular attention was paid to the work of the Uzbek-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which plays a key role in strengthening bilateral ties.

It was noted that the free trade regime between the two countries, which came into effect on February 25, 2025, is contributing to continued growth in mutual trade volumes.

Emphasis was also placed on the launch of the Shavat–Dashoguz border trade zone during the state visit of Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan in November of last year, which marked an important step in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between the border regions of the two countries.

The parties also exchanged views on developing industrial cooperation between enterprises of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
