Uzbekistan’s Academy of Sciences’ Astronomy Institute Comments on Video of Mysterious Object in Tashkent Sky
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A video captured near the Kosmonavtlar metro station showing a bright, unidentified object moving across the sky has circulated widely on social media, sparking active discussion among users. The Astronomy Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan has now provided a comment on the situation.
The institute stated that there is currently no official confirmation that the phenomenon recorded in the video is related to a meteorite fall or has any other natural or man-made origin.
Experts emphasized that without any discovered fragments reaching the Earth’s surface, it is impossible to make a precise and definitive determination about the nature of the observed event.
Astronomers reminded the public that meteoroids are small solid bodies moving through the Solar System. Upon entering Earth’s atmosphere, they heat up and produce a bright glowing trail, a phenomenon known as a meteor. If the celestial body does not burn up completely and reaches the planet’s surface, it is classified as a meteorite.
According to scientific calculations, millions of tiny cosmic particles enter the Earth’s atmosphere every day, yet the vast majority burn up entirely at high altitudes. The total mass of meteorites reaching the Earth’s surface in a 24-hour period averages several tens of tons, while the fall of large meteorites in populated areas remains an extremely rare event.
The Astronomy Institute noted that the study of incoming reports is ongoing, and additional information will be provided to the public as more data becomes available.
