Uzbekistan welcomes the "historic" results of the inter-Korean summit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan welcomes the historic results of the summit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Moon Jae-in and Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-un. This was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The summit was held in Pyongyang on September 18-20, 2018.

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry noted that the agreements reached have demonstrated the firm resolve and ability of the leaders of two countries to constructively cooperate and build inter-Korean relations on a qualitatively new basis of mutual trust, friendship and cooperation.

“As the initiator of the creation of the Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone, Uzbekistan highly appreciates the political will demonstrated by the parties and their desire to completely denuclearize the Korean peninsula,” the statement said.

“Uzbekistan is convinced that the practical implementation of the provisions of the Pyongyang Declaration adopted at the Summit will undoubtedly serve to strengthen mutual trust of lasting peace and stability in the region,” the Uzbek foreign ministry said.
