Uzbekistan Updates Rules on Transit and Emergency Response

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments and additions to a number of the country’s legislative acts.

The legislation is aimed at increasing the volume of transit for special cargo and military contingents, as well as further strengthening the legal framework governing the protection of the population and territories during emergencies.

Under the changes, a decision to issue or deny a transit permit must be made within 20 days from the date of the application. If additional study, verification, or submission of documents is required, the review period may be extended by an additional 10 days.

The law also clarifies the definition of Emergency Response Forces, which now include military units, specialized fire and rescue units of the authorized state body, as well as relevant structures of republican executive authorities and other organizations that are part of the State Emergency Management System.

The law comes into effect on the day of its official publication.
