Uzbekistan Updates Rules for Payment of Contract-Based University Education
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has registered changes to the regulations governing payments for contract-based higher education, the ministry announced on 24 November.
The amendments, entered into the state registry under number 2431-5 on 21 November 2025, clarify the deadlines for tuition payments. Under the new rules:
- Applicants must pay at least 25% of the contract fee by 15 September, while senior students must pay by 1 October or by a deadline extended by the university rector.
- At least 50% must be paid by 1 January, 75% by 1 March, and the full 100% by 1 May, or by a rector-extended deadline.
The state commission has the authority to extend payment deadlines.
Contract funds may also be used to support internships and professional development of young faculty and researchers abroad. Additionally, universities are allowed to provide financial assistance to individual students of up to six times the minimum wage per year under social support programs.
