Uzbekistan Updates List of Household Appliances Subject to Mandatory Digital Labeling
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has clarified the list of household appliances required to carry mandatory digital labels, removing the requirement for several product categories.
Starting July 1, an experimental labeling program for vegetable oil will begin. At the same time, nine categories of electrical appliances have been completely excluded from the labeling requirement, including phones and smartphones, radios, electronic scales, electric shavers, dishwashers, microphones, and audio recording equipment.
Meanwhile, ten other categories have had their HS codes (HS tariff codes) specified. Digital labeling will remain mandatory for gas stoves, central heating boilers, residential and industrial air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, juicers, mixers, water heaters, televisions, and monitors.
In addition, certain types of lighting and electronic components have been added to the list, including sealed directional lamps (excluding lamps for civil aviation), LED modules, and electronic lamps and tubes.
Mandatory digital labeling of household appliances was introduced in Uzbekistan in April 2022 and became compulsory in November 2022. The government allowed a nine-month period for the sale of remaining products without labels.
