Uzbekistan Unveils “Great Silk Road” Cultural Center Plan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the project for the comprehensive cultural and public center “Great Silk Road,” planned for construction in New Tashkent.
The project is designed to become a key hub within the metropolis, which is expected to accommodate two million residents after all construction phases are completed.
Spanning 32 hectares, the complex will include residential and commercial buildings, hotels, cultural and educational institutions, and other modern urban infrastructure elements.
The concept envisions thematic quarters dedicated to different civilizations along the historic Silk Road. The “Uzbekistan” quarter will reflect the country’s history, culture, and values through architecture, streets, and public spaces.
Special attention is given to the renovation of museum facilities. Plans include a thematic museum in the Imam Maturidi complex, showcasing his life and legacy, as well as a scientific and innovative museum “Bahauddin Naqshbandi” featuring the “Yetti Pir” hall.
Additionally, the State Museum of Timurid History will undergo renovation with modern exhibition design to vividly and comprehensively illustrate key historical periods.
The projects aim to create contemporary cultural infrastructure, develop educational and tourist spaces, attract visitors, and promote national history through scientific approaches.
President Mirziyoyev approved the initiatives and issued directives for their phased implementation.
