Uzbekistan, Ukraine discuss strengthening trade-economic relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 20 July 2018, Deputy Minister for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sahib Saifnazarov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Yuriy Savchenko.

The sides discussed the current state and further plans on strengthening trade-economic cooperation between the countries, as well as prospects for interregional cooperation between the regions of the two countries. At the meeting, the intention of the parties for organizing the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in 2019 was also emphasized.

In 2017, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Ukraine grew by 14% and reached US$288 million.

In the first six months of this year, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 60% and amounted to 206 million dollars.

Currently, 72 joint Uzbekistan – Ukraine enterprises are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, including 5 enterprises with 100% Ukrainian capital.
