Uzbekistan, Türkiye Discuss Joint Pension System

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Officials from the Pension Fund under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of Türkiye held negotiations in Tashkent on establishing a joint pension system for citizens of both countries.

The discussions focused on creating a mechanism to account for work experience earned in one country when calculating pension entitlements in the other. This approach aims to protect the social security of migrant workers and ensure they retain pension rights regardless of their place of employment.

Following the meetings, the parties plan to finalize a draft intergovernmental agreement and a memorandum of understanding. These documents will define the procedures for cooperation between agencies, as well as the rules for accounting work experience and making payments.

For Uzbekistan, the initiative is particularly important due to the significant number of its citizens working in Türkiye. The Turkish side also expressed interest, as its citizens employed in Uzbekistan would receive comparable pension guarantees.
