Uzbekistan - Turkey: New Horizons of Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey, as well as the Uzbek-Turkish Business Forum in Ankara, the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the railway organizations of the two countries was held.

In order to create favorable conditions for bilateral cooperation in the field of international freight transportation, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Uzbekistan Railways and TCDD Tasimacilik A.S. (Turkish Railways).

The side also discussed the issue of creating a joint Working Group on the elaboration of a Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and TCDD Tasimacilik A.S. on the establishment of competitive tariff conditions, the development of transportation on the route Baku - Tbilisi - Kars. Also, in order to develop international transport corridors passing through the territory of Uzbekistan and Turkey, the possibilities of launching container trains will be studied.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation also got acquainted with the practice of managing a new railway station in the city of Ankara.
