Uzbekistan, Turkey discuss prospects for further development and expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan together with the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the assistance of the Association of Independent Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkey “MUSIAD” organized a visit of a delegation of Turkish business circles to Uzbekistan.

During the visit, on 25 February 2019, a round table was held in Tashkent on the theme: “Prospects for further development and expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey” with the participation of business circles of the two countries.

The Uzbek side was attended by members of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, relevant ministries and departments, as well as companies producing electrical products, agriculture, furniture and building materials.

Speakers emphasized that State visits of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromiyoev in October 2017 to Turkey, as well as President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan in April 2018, opened new pages in the history of Uzbek-Turkish cooperation.

The bilateral documents signed during the above visits contributed to the entry to a qualitatively new level of bilateral relations in the economic, commercial, banking and financial, investment, tourism, transport and logistics and healthcare.

In this context, it is worth noting that during the visit to Uzbekistan at the highest level, an agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and MUSIAD was signed in September 2018. A representative office of MUSIAD was opened in Tashkent.

During the round table, Turkish businessmen got acquainted with the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan to improve the investment climate, liberalize the economy, and ensure the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of entrepreneurs. The parties also discussed the potential of the republic in the field of “pilgrim” tourism, presented information on the prospects for the development of the construction industry and urban planning with the organization of the presentation of the project “Tashkent city”.

In the framework of the "round table" meetings and negotiations of entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Turkey in the "B2B" format were held.

The visit of the delegation continues, the program of the visit includes visits to the historical cities of Uzbekistan such as Bukhara and Samarkand in order to get acquainted with the tourist potential of the republic.

It is important to note that Turkey has been actively involved in the development of “pilgrim tourism” in Uzbekistan, since November 2017, ex-deputy of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Sadiq Badak, has been working as an advisor to the chairman of the State Committee on Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
