Uzbekistan Tops the Medal Table at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The national team of Uzbekistan finished first in the overall medal standings at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games held in Dubai, demonstrating clear dominance throughout the competition.
Uzbek athletes won a total of 197 medals, including 99 gold, 57 silver, and 41 bronze awards.
Para athletics made the largest contribution to the team’s success, securing 71 medals, among them 37 gold, 20 silver, and 14 bronze.
In para swimming, representatives of Uzbekistan claimed 59 medals, consisting of 36 gold, 15 silver, and 8 bronze.
The para powerlifting team won 43 medals, including 21 gold, 14 silver, and 8 bronze awards.
In para taekwondo, Uzbek athletes earned 14 medals, with 3 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze. In para armwrestling, the team collected 9 medals, including 3 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze.
In the boccia competition, the national team finished with one silver and one bronze medal.
According to the final standings, Iran placed second overall with 62 gold, 81 silver, and 73 bronze medals, while Japan finished third with 40 gold, 25 silver, and 12 bronze awards.
Uzbekistan also emerged as the strongest team among the countries of Central Asia. Kazakhstan ranked sixth with 21 gold, 23 silver, and 14 bronze medals. Kyrgyzstan finished 13th, winning 7 gold and 3 bronze medals, while Tajikistan placed 23rd with one gold and three silver awards.
