Uzbekistan to Temporarily Restrict Operations of CNG Filling Stations Due to Reduced Gas Pressure

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy has announced that starting from 8 January, compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations across the country will operate on a limited schedule, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., due to a drop in pressure in main gas pipelines.

The ministry explained that the measures are being introduced to ensure the priority and uninterrupted supply of natural gas to residential households, public transport, and social infrastructure facilities. The decision is based on schedules coordinated with local authorities and is temporary in nature.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that under the current gas pressure conditions, the primary objective is to supply the population and socially significant facilities, including healthcare and educational institutions. Restrictions on the operation of CNG filling stations are being implemented as part of a broader set of measures aimed at the rational use of gas resources.

In the Ferghana Valley, the operating режим of CNG stations will be determined separately, in coordination with regional khokimiyats and taking into account the current gas supply situation and pressure levels. Authorities stated that the approach will be flexible and will depend on consumption volumes and the condition of infrastructure in specific areas.

The ministry also reported that practical work is currently underway to normalize pressure in the gas transmission system. As the situation stabilizes, the restrictions will be reviewed.
