Within the session, the Committee will consider periodical reports of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Honudras, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland and Switzerland on adopted legislative, judicial, administrative and other measures directed at elimination of all forms of racial discrimination.
The session started on Monday and it will last till 21 February 2014. The report of Uzbekistan will be discussed on 11-12 February 2014.
The UN Committee on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination consists of 18 experts and created to observer implementation of the UN Committee on Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The UN General Assembly adopted the Convention in 1969. Currently, 176 states joined the convention and they submit periodical reports to the UN Committee.
The Convention declares that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights and that everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set out therein, without distinction of any kind, in particular as to race, colour or national origin. The document calls the state to adopt necessary measures to eliminate racial discrimination.
