Uzbekistan to Open New Consulates in the United States — Presidential Decree
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to expand its diplomatic presence in the United States by opening new consulates, according to a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to work within one month on the establishment of additional consular offices in the United States.
When forming the staff of the consulates, special attention will be given to the need for specialists responsible for engagement with key economic hubs, as well as the placement of offices in regions with the largest concentrations of the Uzbek diaspora, particularly in Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando, and Seattle.
In addition, the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been tasked with initiating negotiations with the U.S. side to conclude an Agreement on the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments.
