Uzbekistan to Introduce Recycling Fee for Construction Glass
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of Uzbekistan has considered the Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
The document is aimed at improving environmental legislation and enhancing the efficiency of the national statistical system.
It was noted that Uzbekistan is consistently implementing measures to protect the environment, ensure the rational use of natural resources, and strengthen ecological safety. At the same time, work is underway to increase transparency and accessibility of official statistics for domestic and international users, including the expansion of access to data on sectoral economic development.
The new law introduces amendments to the Laws “On Nature Protection” and “On Waste.” In particular, it establishes a recycling fee to cover the costs of processing waste generated during the use of construction glass. These measures are expected to reduce the negative environmental impact of such waste and stimulate the development of recycling enterprises.
In addition, the amendments affect several legal acts regulating the state statistics system. They include provisions on renaming and changing the legal status of the National Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as part of ongoing administrative reforms aimed at improving management efficiency and creating more favorable conditions for users of statistical data.
Senators emphasized that the adoption of this law will contribute to the development of the construction glass industry, strengthen environmental safety, and protect public health, while also improving the operations of the country’s statistical authorities in line with modern standards of openness and transparency.
The law was approved by the upper chamber of parliament.
