Uzbekistan to Introduce Digital System for Recording Burials
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution titled “On Measures to Improve the Organization and Registration of Burial Procedures and to Introduce Effective Control Mechanisms in this Sphere.”
The document provides for transitioning the issuance of burial permits and the registration of funerals to a digital format. New electronic services will be introduced through an online system to support monitoring of these processes.
By 1 June 2026, a “Unified Electronic Burial Registry” module is expected to be developed within the “Unified Civil Registry Electronic Archive” information system, along with a corresponding mobile application.
Starting from 1 March 2026, once a death is registered, the deceased’s relatives — spouses, parents, or children — will receive an electronic death notification with a QR code in their personal account on the my.gov.uz portal. This notification is issued free of charge and is equivalent to a stamped official certificate.
From 1 July to 31 December 2026, a new procedure for conducting burials will be introduced in Tashkent on an experimental basis.
Burial permits will be issued exclusively through the electronic module or mobile application under the supervision of the cemetery administrator, and paper-based burial records will be discontinued.
