Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Government adopted a resolution “On the introduction of an automated fare payment system for the carriage of passengers in public transport”.

According to the resolution, the automated fare payment system for transporting passengers in public transport will be carried out in stages:

- starting from 1 January 2020 - in some directions when providing services for the carriage of passengers of Toshshagartranskhizmat JSC AJ and Toshkent Metropolitan Unitary Enterprise in the city of Tashkent;

- starting from 1 August 2020 - when providing services for the carriage of passengers in the city of Nukus and regional centers;

- starting from 1 January 2021 - when providing services for the carriage of passengers throughout the republic.

Personalization of preferential transport cards for certain categories of citizens, and the sale of cards at cost will be carried out through the centers of public services.

The connection of legal entities that provide transport services to the population with the automated system will be reflected in tender (selection) agreements giving the right to provide passenger transportation services.

According to the resolution, a procedure for setting tariffs for an automated system will be developed.

It will include such issues as the possibility of using several transports or modes of transport with one payment, the introduction of tariff plans based on the time and distance on the line.
