Uzbekistan to Host International Cotton Day 2026 in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States, Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov held a meeting with Eric Trachtenberg, Executive Director of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).

The discussion, held on the sidelines of the C5+1 Summit involving the leaders of Central Asian countries and the United States, focused on the current outcomes of cooperation with the Committee and outlined plans for the future.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed to introduce a carbon market system in Uzbekistan’s cotton sector.

This initiative aims to promote sustainable production and implement environmentally friendly technologies at the international level.

In addition, the parties reached an agreement to hold the International Cotton Day 2026 in Uzbekistan — an important global platform to showcase the country’s cotton sector reforms, innovative approaches, and practices in environmentally sustainable production.
