Uzbekistan to Host Iftars for Compatriots in More Than 50 Cities Worldwide
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the holy month of Ramadan, Uzbek diplomatic missions will host festive iftars for compatriots in more than 50 cities across ten countries. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The initiative is being implemented in fulfillment of a presidential decree dated February 16, 2026, "On the Worthy Observance of the Holy Month of Ramadan," under the motto "Ramadan — a Month of Mercy, Harmony and Gratitude."
The events will span a wide geography, from Mecca and Medina to Seoul, Istanbul, Cairo, Amman, Kuala Lumpur, and the North American cities of Washington, New York, and Toronto. The broadest coverage is planned in Russia, where iftars will be held in 20 cities, and in the United States, across 10 cities, with a total of 15 events to be organized in six American cities. Thanks to sponsorship from compatriots themselves, additional iftars will take place in Dallas, Philadelphia, Orlando, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, and Yekaterinburg.
The events are being organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan jointly with the Council of Muslims and the Committee on Religious Affairs. Held with the participation of prominent Islamic scholars and imams, the gatherings place particular emphasis on the humanistic values of Islam and on providing spiritual support to citizens living far from their homeland — above all labor migrants and students.
