Uzbekistan to host 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will host the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. This was announced at the press-conference following the first FIFA Executive Committee meeting of 2011 on 3 March.

The Uzbekistan Football Federation (UFF) said that Uzbekistan and New Zealand competed for hosting the event.

FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter said: “Women’s football is developing with great tempo in Uzbekistan and currently we are happy to announce that the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will be held in this country.”

The UFF said that earlier Vietnam was selected to host the event, but the FIFA decided that the country is not ready to host such large sport forum and decided to replace the venue.
