Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will hold elections for 100-seat Senate on 16 and 17 January 2020, the Uzbek Central Election Commission said on Wednesday.
According to Uzbek election laws, 84 members in the Senate are elected and the President of Uzbekistan appoints other 16 senators among the well-known personalities.
The Central Asian nation held elections for the 150-seat lower house of the parliament last December.
The Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan won 53 seats, the National Revival Democratic Party gained 36 seats, the Social Democratic Party Adolat got 24 seats, the People's Democratic Party obtained 22 seats and the Ecological Party acquired 15 seats, the press service said.
