Uzbekistan to Establish Agricultural Risk Insurance Fund
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will establish an Agricultural Risk Insurance Fund to protect producers from natural and man-made hazards, the government announced Monday.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree titled “On the Effective Organization of the Agricultural Risk Insurance Mechanism,” aimed at compensating losses to crops and livestock from disasters, fires, diseases, and pests. The initiative also targets a 20 percent increase in agricultural output by 2030.
Starting in 2026, producers receiving preferential loans will be able to gradually insure against the loss or damage of their products. Loan arrears of farms and agricultural clusters, however, will not be covered by the insurance.
By the end of 2025, authorities plan to launch the “Agricultural Insurance” information system to streamline interactions between producers and the fund.
