Uzbekistan to Erect “Devoted to the Motherland” Monuments in Unity Parks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to install symbolic monuments titled “Vatan Fidoiylari” (“Devoted to the Motherland”) in the central areas of national unity parks, which are scheduled to be established in all cities and districts of the country by 2030.

The initiative is outlined in a presidential decree by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to the upcoming 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. The monument is designed to embody the principles of national sovereignty and independence, as well as honor the creators of the New Uzbekistan. The sketch design will be developed by the Academy of Arts, the Ministry of Culture, the Writers’ Union, and the Republican Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment, with completion expected by June.

The national unity parks program, adopted earlier, envisions extensive reconstruction of existing culture and leisure parks. The spaces are intended to reflect shared national values such as solidarity, cohesion, and societal harmony.

According to the concept, 60% of the park areas will be designated as “quiet” zones, featuring greenery, picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, open-air mini-libraries, and creative spaces. The remaining 40% will be allocated to “active” zones with modern attractions and recreational facilities, including family-oriented leisure areas and bike paths.

The 35th Independence Day celebrations will carry the slogan: “With a united homeland and united people, we will build a new life and a new future!” The republican commission for the anniversary is chaired by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

As part of the jubilee program, a commemorative album book titled Mustaqillik Zafarnomasi will be published, social media campaigns launched under hashtags #Mustaqillik35 and #Uzb35, and a series of documentary films showcasing national development during the years of independence will be released.

An international conference on Uzbekistan’s 35-year journey of independence will take place in Tashkent in August, while cultural and educational events will be held abroad with participation from Uzbek diaspora communities.

Additionally, the Central Bank has been instructed to issue a commemorative gold coin for the anniversary, and one of the new neighborhoods and a railway station will be named “35th Anniversary of Independence.”
