Uzbekistan to discuss projects for US$500m at Arab League Economic Forum

RIA Novosti reported quoting source in the Uzbek government that the participation of the Uzbekistan at the meeting was discussed at the of the officials of Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on economic and cultural cooperation Yusuf Bin Tarad al-Sadun.

The source said that at the forum the delegation of Uzbekistan will discuss attracting investments of Arab League states to implementation of 10 projects.

In particular, the sides will consider equipment of medical institutions, universities, installation of alternative sources of energy at general schools, reconstruction of sewage system and improvement of water supply system, as well as completion of construction of Uzbek national highway.

According to Uzbek statistics, currently Arab financial institutions provided US$600 million to finance projects in Uzbekistan in such areas as social sector, energy, infrastructure and private entrepreneurship.
