Uzbekistan to create 987,500 new jobs in 2015
On 13 November 2014, Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved a programme on creation of jobs and ensuring employment of population for 2015, which envisages measures on providing jobs to population.
According to the programme, over 261,600 new jobs will be created due to launch of new objects, reconstruction and expansion of existing enterprises, of which 115,700 jobs in industry, 66,900 – in service sector and 48,800 – in agriculture.
Another 30,200 new jobs will be created due to rehabilitation of inactive enterprises in the country, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan.
Due to development of small enterprises and microfirms, Uzbekistan plans to create 290,400 new jobs in 2015. It is planned to issue 8.5 trillion soums of loans to develop the sector. The funds will be issued to projects, which envisage creation of new jobs in remote rural areas.
Individual entrepreneurship will provide jobs to 104,300 people in 2015, the programme said. About 203,700 people will be employed due to out-work and 127,500 people – due to development of farms.
About 487,700 graduates of colleges will be employed in 2015 in line with the parameters of the programme.
In connection with economic crisis in foreign states, including in Russia, it is expected that labour migrants will return home. To ensure their employment, it is planned to create 409,500 new jobs for them, including via providing assisting to them to launch own business. In particular, commercial banks will be recommended to provide soft loans to launch their business activities.
