Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Uzbekistan closes universities, schools and kindergartens because of the coronavirus, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov said at a meeting on Sunday.

“On Monday, 16 March, universities, schools and kindergartens are closed for three weeks,” the head of government said.

The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan also said that the festivities on Navruz and mass events were canceled due to the coronavirus. All concerts, cultural and sporting events, as well as festivities are canceled indefinitely. A special hotline will operate during quarantine.

Earlier, on 15 March at 6:00 in the laboratory of the Institute of Virology, a citizen of Uzbekistan, who returned from France, was positively tested for the coronavirus COVID-19.
