Uzbekistan to Build First Modern Wastewater Treatment Facility Based on Chinese Experience
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, the Chinese company Qingyan Environmental Technology will construct a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 40,000 cubic meters of water per day, also equipped with air purification systems.
The complex features four technological chains arranged sequentially, enabling the treatment of wastewater from large industrial zones and dyeing workshops.
The project fully complies with European standards, with 60% of the treated wastewater slated for recycling.
During the treatment process, the resulting sludge will be dried and used for electricity generation, significantly reducing environmental impact.
The project is implemented under a public-private partnership. The Chinese partners will operate the facility for 15 years, fully managing water treatment, chemical processing, and maintenance.
The cost of treating one cubic meter of water is estimated at approximately 1–1.2 US dollars.
Construction is planned to be completed within eight months.
Once operational, local textile factories will have access to environmentally safe water, allowing them to produce goods in compliance with international standards.
