Uzbekistan to begin trial deliveries of fruits and vegetables to Auchan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Companies of Uzbekistan will begin trial deliveries of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the Auchan network from 1 May.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia initiated a meeting between representatives of domestic food industry companies and the leadership of the largest Russian trade network Auchan.

The event opened with a video demonstration “Export potential of fruits and vegetables of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, which allowed the meeting participants to form a holistic view of the capabilities of our country.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov noted that the unique soil and climatic conditions of the country, 320 sunny days a year, the successive change of seasons create favorable conditions for the cultivation of the main types of fruits and vegetables. At the same time, Uzbek products are rich in microelements that are beneficial to human health, various biological substances that are indispensable in the diet.

The president of Auchan Retail Russia LLC, Francois Remy, gave a high assessment to Uzbekistan’s opportunities in the agricultural sector, saying that he was well informed about the unique taste qualities of the fruits of the Uzbek land. Readiness to establish joint cooperation with Uzbek partners was expressed and specific conditions for cooperation were indicated. At the same time, the entrepreneur stressed the need to exclude middlemen and organize the direct delivery of goods from Uzbek manufacturers.

The dialogue was continued during meetings at the office of Auchan Retail Russia LLC. Here, Uzbek manufacturers got acquainted with the range of goods sold through the trading network, received information about the conditions of supply of products and requirements for its quality.

Following the talks, an agreement was reached on starting trial deliveries of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the Auchan network on 1 May 2019. In addition, the Uzbek side proposed to organize a visit of the delegation of the trade network to the republic for a visual acquaintance with the potential of Uzbekistan in the field and conclude direct contracts with potential suppliers.
