Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is working on the adoption of a National Human Rights Strategy. Draft related documents have been prepared by the National Center for Human Rights. This was reported by the press service of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev at a solemn meeting dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted that “to further improve the efficiency of ensuring human rights, we need an appropriate National Strategy. "We need to continue to work to develop a culture of respect for human rights and freedoms in society, which will increase the credibility of our country in the international arena."
In recent years, much has been done in the country in the field of human rights - international standards are being implemented in the legislation, Uzbekistan, as a member of the world community, is fulfilling its international obligations in the field of human rights.
Over the past 3 years, more than 5,000 normative legal acts have been adopted, including 4 new codes, 186 laws, 1,200 acts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which are aimed at creating a legislative foundation for the realization of personal, political, economic, social and cultural rights and freedoms of citizens.
However, so far in the field of human rights there has not been a long-term strategy. Its adoption and implementation will strengthen the process of forming a respectful attitude to human rights and freedoms in the country, further enhancing the prestige of Uzbekistan in the international arena.
The draft National Strategy for Human Rights provides a set of measures aimed at improving the standard of living and well-being in Uzbekistan through ensuring human rights and freedoms.
These include the further development of the national system for monitoring and evaluating state human rights policies, and the strengthening of national institutions for the protection of human rights.
A separate place in the Strategy is reserved for the observance of human rights in the system of stay of persons in places of detention, where access to justice must be guaranteed.
It is planned to increase the level of social support for people in need of special protection of the state and society. Much attention will be paid to the practical protection of freedom of speech, religion, access to information, and gender equality.
The protection of the institution of the family will be raised to a new level, including through the growth of legal and socio-economic support, the protection of motherhood, fatherhood and childhood, and the fight against domestic violence.
A wide program is provided to increase the level of knowledge of youth in the field of human rights. It is planned to introduce a special course "Human Rights" in universities and training centers for retraining, expand classes on this topic in schools, lyceums and colleges.
Economic human rights are also covered, the full observance of which underlies the development of private property, the creation of equal conditions for doing business, the real development of public-private partnerships.
It is proposed to establish the annual National Prize for the Protection of Human Rights. In 2020, the Samarkand Human Rights Forum is planned.
