He said that electric locomotives O’ZEL, purchased two years ago, successfully tested and fully used in cargo transportation.
Kalimbetov said based on use of previous 12 modifications of Uzbekistan series and 15 passenger series of O’zbekiston-yo’lovchi, the producers introduced some changes to locomotives to meet local climate conditions.
He added that the railway company said that it is planning to purchase 10 similar electric locomotive by the end of 2014, which will differ with outlook and technical specifications compared to other analogues.
During the operation of the first batch of new locomotives, the volume of electricity consumption decreased by ten per cent and the cost of materials and resources - by 40%.
