Uzbekistan, Switzerland to realize water project

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan Shavkat Hamraev and Deputy Ambassador of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland of Uzbekistan Thierry Umbehr signed the document.

According to information service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan, Switzerland will issue the grant for US$2.66 million to the project implementation. The project will be implemented in 2016-2018.

The project will consists of four components. It is planned to develop water strategy and improve legislation of Uzbekistan. It is planned to strengthen institutional potential water management organizations and create information system on water.

The project also involves the installation of the system on early warning of population of floods in Shahimardansaya basin.
