Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3-8 November 2019, a delegation of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CEIID) under the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It should be noted that following the results of the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United Arab Emirates in March 2019, an agreement was reached on cooperation in improving the efficiency of public administration, developing long-term development strategies, and introducing innovations in the activities of state bodies. In the UAE under the Ministry of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Future, a similar mechanism of the government accelerator is already operating.

In the framework of the agreements reached, the UAE Government expressed its readiness to assist in the development of such an institution in Uzbekistan, as well as in the training of its employees.

The purpose of this visit was the participation of the leadership and senior staff of CEIID in the training “Government Accelerators Training Workshop” organized by the Government of the UAE, as well as practical interaction in the implementation of the Government Accelerator in Uzbekistan.

The Government Accelerator in the UAE was created as a key structure that facilitates the implementation of the country's strategy until 2020, the ultimate goal of which is to radically change the decision-making process in the field of public administration (change management).

During the visit, the methodology of the UAE Government Accelerator and case studies developed by Harvard University specialists were carefully studied.

At the same time, the Accelerator of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the initial stage identified priority issues that should be studied within 100 days by the interested ministries and departments.

As part of the visit, the CEIID leadership held a number of meetings and negotiations with members of the UAE Government. In particular, negotiations were held with the Deputy Director General for Strategy and Innovation of the UAE Prime Minister Hood al-Hashimi, Deputy Director General for Public Opportunities and Leadership Yasser Alnakby and the Director of the UAE Government Accelerator Radhiya al-Hashimi.

During the talks, members of the UAE government noted that the latest changes and reforms implemented in Uzbekistan to improve public administration are very important and timely. In particular, the experience of the Virtual and People's Receptions of the President of Uzbekistan deserves much attention.

The Emirate side, emphasizing the special importance attached to relations with Uzbekistan, stated its intentions not to be limited by the scope of existing agreements and to actively participate in the implementation of the Government Accelerator in Uzbekistan.

Following the visit, an agreement was reached between the CEIID and the Government of the UAE, represented by the Government Accelerator at the Ministry for Cabinet and Future Affairs, to provide the Emirate with comprehensive assistance in organizing the activities of the Government Accelerator in Uzbekistan, including by attracting foreign experts on relevant issues.
