Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 December, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilhom Norkulov held a meeting with representatives of the British urban planning and architecture company ARUP and the World Bank as part of the seminar “Regional Master Plans: Applying Advanced International Experience in Uzbekistan.”
The event was also attended by World Bank Senior Specialist Mohamed Nada, Head of ARUP’s London Master Planning Group Arthur Smart, as well as representatives from Spain and Turkey, Jaime Traspadern and Emre Simsek.
The participants discussed the development of cooperation, including the exchange of expertise in creating master plans, implementing “green” and energy-efficient projects, and exploring ways to adapt these approaches to Uzbekistan’s context.
Special attention was given to the master plan concept for the central area of Chelak settlement in the Payarik District of Samarkand Region, being developed by ARUP. The project envisions organizing the main road into a vibrant street with round-the-clock activity and creating comfortable living conditions for local residents.
