Uzbekistan studies French experience in building and operating nuclear power plants

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited France to study the experience in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, as well as to negotiate and establish cooperation between countries in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Goskomprombez, the Uzatom Agency and the NPP Construction Directorate.

During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the production site of Orano Tricastin, in particular, with each stage of work and the production cycle of uranium enrichment. She also visited the Framatome Romans in the city of Valence, which specializes in the manufacture of fuel assemblies designed for nuclear power reactors.

The visit to France continues. Meetings are planned with representatives of state bodies of the country, as well as visits to the nuclear power plant under operation and under construction.

The Tricastin site is an industrial site that includes nuclear fuel cycle facilities and a nuclear power plant. It is located in the lower Rhone Valley, in the heart of the historic region of Trikastin. It covers an area of 600 hectares. The Orano Tricastin industrial platform located on this site includes all types and stages of activity (conversion, defluorination and denitration) and uranium enrichment. The company performs a range of activities from exploration of uranium deposits to its processing.
