Uzbekistan Strengthens Seismic Protection for Buildings and Structures

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan has approved a resolution “On Additional Measures to Enhance the Seismic Resistance of Buildings and Structures,” aimed at improving the protection of facilities against earthquakes.

Starting from 1 December 2025, the practice of designing based on regional accelerogram databases, reflecting the intensity and characteristics of seismic impacts, will be implemented.

By 1 October 2027, the types of facilities for which priority design using specialized seismic protection devices will be applied in areas with earthquake intensity of 8 points or higher on the MSK-64 scale will be determined.

From 1 February 2026, the fee for scientific conclusions on seismic resistance, issued in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 603 of 15 October 2022, will be reduced by 50 percent. For standardized serial-type buildings, scientific conclusions will be issued once for a fee, and subsequent projects of the same type will not require additional payment.

Furthermore, the process of issuing scientific conclusions on seismic resistance will be integrated into the national information system “Transparent Construction,” ensuring transparency and expediting procedures within the construction sector.
