Uzbekistan strengthens security measures on New Year days

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Interior Affairs of Uzbekistan developed measures on holding New Year events, including Presidential New Year Tree event, in high level, Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs of Uzbekistan Rakhmat Mamatov said.

He said that the special groups on ensuring public order, preventing emergency events and ensuring road and fire safety were created in the regions, cities, regional centers, mahallas, etc.

The Uzbek official said that the safety measures were also strengthened in border territoties. Mahallas activists were attracted to implement safety measures.

Mamatov said that the law enforcement bodies also strengthened work on control over adherence to rules of permanent and temporary registration, entry of foreigners and people without citizenship.

He said that the preventive measures “Chistka – antiterror” (Cleaning – Antiterror) is taking place in Uzbekistan to fight crime and violations, as well as to reveal people, who can commit crimes.

He said that the law enforcement bodies are cooperating with local administration, self-governing institutions and public organizations. The meetings are held at mahallas, enterprises, organizations and educational institutions.

Under the local administration, the special groups on organization of mass events were created, which are studying technical and fire safety of the objects, which are used in celebrations.

The patrols are ensuring safety on roads, he said. At the same time, Uzbekistan launched a fire safety month, which will be held from 15 December 2013 to 15 January 2014.
