Uzbekistan Strengthens International Education Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At UNESCO headquarters, within the framework of the “Global Education Monitoring 2026 (GEM)” events, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Preschool and School Education, E’zoza Karimova, held a series of international meetings aimed at expanding cooperation in the education sector.
Discussions focused on the digitalization of learning, the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, and the implementation of joint educational initiatives.
A key part of the visit was negotiations with UNESCO Deputy Director-General for Education, Stefania Giannini. The parties discussed developing a roadmap for establishing a UNESCO Category II Center in Tashkent, including the potential deployment of an expert mission, organizing an international conference, and launching pilot projects.
During a meeting with China’s Minister of Education, Huai Jinping, the focus was on technological development. Topics included preparing a memorandum on cooperation in artificial intelligence, organizing student and school exchange programs, and jointly training and upskilling educators.
Regional cooperation was discussed with representatives from Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. An agreement was reached with Turkmen Education Minister Jummamyrat Gurbangeldiev on sharing experience in organizing Olympiads. Plans were agreed with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Science and Education, Hasan Hasanli, to develop STEM education and teacher exchange programs.
Meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Planning, Saad bin Abdul Ghani Al-Ghamdi, explored collaboration with Arab countries, including launching a joint experience-sharing program with concrete implementation mechanisms.
These initiatives aim to integrate Uzbekistan’s education system into the global knowledge space and expand international partnerships in workforce training and capacity building.
