Uzbekistan Strengthens Fire Safety Oversight at Social Facilities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Minister of Emergency Situations Botir Kudrathodjaev presented information on ongoing measures to protect the population from fires and ensure fire safety at social facilities.

It was noted that preventive measures continue across the country to prevent and respond to natural and man-made emergencies, including fires, carbon monoxide poisoning, and technical malfunctions. The Concept for the Development of the System for Protecting the Population and Territories from Emergencies, as well as the Comprehensive Program of Measures to Improve the Protection Sphere for 2025–2026, have been approved.

To increase awareness and compliance with fire safety rules among the public and organizations, explanatory campaigns are conducted at enterprises, neighborhoods (mahallas), and households. State inspectors have checked 79,432 of 323,093 registered enterprises and organizations. Numerous violations were identified, written orders were issued, the activities of 22,642 facilities were temporarily suspended, and 112,527 faulty power sources were disconnected.

Administrative fines totaling 31.8 billion soms were imposed on 51,824 managers, responsible persons, and citizens for violations of fire safety rules. Approximately nine million people participated in preventive talks and training sessions.

In preschool and general education institutions, 32,059 out of 68,536 identified violations were corrected; in higher and secondary educational institutions, 2,175 out of 4,252; and in medical facilities, 7,284 out of 15,402.

Deputies emphasized the need to strengthen preventive work, regularly monitor the technical condition of social facilities, and promptly address identified violations. It was decided to ensure effective parliamentary oversight of the implementation of fire safety measures.
