Uzbekistan starts to create national GIS

The tender for development of project documentation was announced in late January. In the second half of 2014, it is planned to carry out technical part of the project.

Within the project, it is planned to create multifunctional information system to ensure single national accounting and assessing natural-economic potential of Uzbekistan, its separate territories, provide state bodies, legal entities and individuals with necessary cadaster information. The project will be realized within four years (2013-2017).

The project with total cost of US$30.8 million will be carried out due to loan of Korean Eximbank at the size of US$15 million. The loan was issued for 40 years, including 10 years of grace period.

Uzbekistan will contribute US$15.87 million to project implementation, of which US$6.05 million will be tax and customs preferences.
