Uzbekistan Snipers Triumph at International Competition in South Korea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The sniper team of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan won first place at the 2nd International Sniper Tournament, held from 8 to 15 September in Gwangju Province, South Korea, organized by the Republic of Korea Army Special Operations Command.

The competition featured 54 teams from ten countries, including the United States, Germany, Romania, the UAE, Qatar, Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia, and South Korea. Uzbekistan was represented by two teams.

The tournament program included tactical exercises during day and night, long-range shooting from awkward positions, stealth navigation in unfamiliar terrain, execution of firing tasks under physical and psychological stress, rapid shooting with pistols and rifles, application of tactical medicine, and shooting from moving vehicles and aerial platforms.

Uzbekistan’s team scored 539.5 points, placing first among foreign participants. Vietnam took second place with 534.7 points, and the United States came third with 519 points.

This marks Uzbekistan’s second success at this competition; in 2024, the team earned an honorable second place at the inaugural tournament.

A ceremonial welcome for the winners was held today at Islam Karimov International Airport in Tashkent, attended by Ministry of Defense officials, family members of the servicemen, media representatives, and members of the public.

Speakers emphasized that the victory reflects years of preparation and systematic efforts to develop the professional skills of military personnel. The Ministry of Defense congratulated the team and expressed confidence in future international achievements.
