Uzbekistan snatches victory over Palestine
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s national U-23 football team claimed a hard-fought victory over Palestine in the Asian Cup qualifying stage.
Group E matches, featuring the Uzbek side, are being held in Bishkek. In the third round, Uzbekistan secured a 2–1 win. Bekhruzbek Askarov opened the scoring in the 25th minute, but Muhammad Sandouka equalized in the 70th. The decisive goal came in the 85th minute from Rustam Turdimurodov, sealing the win for Uzbekistan.
After three matches, the team has collected 7 points and tops the group standings. In the final match, Kyrgyzstan must defeat Sri Lanka by a margin of five goals to take first place.
It should be noted that only the group winners qualify directly for the Asian Cup, while the runners-up retain a chance to reach the final stage of the tournament.
