Uzbekistan Signs Memorandum with ICPC to Develop Digital Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Minister Sherzod Shermatov, together with representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan headed by Director General AbduLahad Kuchkarov, is on a working visit to the United States.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held with Dr. William B. Poucher, President of the ICPC Foundation and Executive Director of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). The sides discussed prospects for strategic cooperation in digital education, talent development, and international academic collaboration.

The discussion focused on expanding cooperation in programming, organizing competitions, training specialists, and strengthening global academic partnerships — in line with Uzbekistan’s goal to build a globally competitive IT and innovation ecosystem.

The parties also explored launching joint initiatives to promote artificial intelligence, algorithmic research, software engineering, and computational technologies, as well as encouraging active participation of Uzbek students in international programming contests.

This initiative supports Uzbekistan’s strategic priorities to advance international cooperation in digital education and to create a world-class educational, research, and innovation environment.

Following the talks, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining cooperation in education and scientific research, and confirming joint implementation of ICPC initiatives in Uzbekistan.

Under the agreement, a roadmap will be developed to expand ICPC programs in the country and strengthen the organization’s presence in Central Asia.

The ICPC Foundation is a global non-profit organization that runs the International Collegiate Programming Contest, the world’s largest and most prestigious student competition in algorithmic programming.

Founded in 1970, the ICPC brings together top university programmers from around the world to solve complex practical problems and promote the advancement of global IT education.
