Uzbekistan Signs Memorandum on Long-Term Cooperation with Major Pakistani Engineering Group
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 January, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, met with Malik Muhammad Aslam, Chief Executive Officer of the Pakistani company Habib Rafiq Ltd.
During the talks, both sides discussed prospects for expanding Uzbek-Pakistani investment cooperation. The focus was on projects in infrastructure development, smart city initiatives, as well as mining and processing industries.
Special attention was given to copper enrichment, the extraction and processing of strategic minerals, and the implementation of modern engineering solutions and advanced technologies.
As a result of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan and Habib Rafiq Engineering (Private) Limited.
The document sets out the framework for cooperation on implementing smart city projects, developing modern infrastructure, and attracting investments into Uzbekistan’s economy.
The signing of the Memorandum confirmed the mutual interest of both parties in launching long-term joint projects and deepening practical collaboration.
Habib Rafiq Ltd is one of Pakistan’s largest engineering and construction groups with over 70 years of history. The company carries out large-scale projects, including Capital Smart City and Lahore Smart City, participates in the development of Islamabad International Airport, and undertakes initiatives in green energy.
In partnership with the Chinese corporation Geely, the company has established electric vehicle production and actively implements innovative technological solutions.
