Uzbekistan signs loan agreements for US$413m with IFIs in 2Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan signed four loan agreements for US$413.04 million with international financial institutions and donor countries in the second quarter of 2017. Total cost of projects is $470.24 million.

Uzbekistan and the World Bank signed a loan agreement on the project “Strengthening the material and technical base of higher educational institutions”. The cost of the project is US$72.95 million, and the loan is US$42.2 million.

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) provided US$300 million for the project “Construction of modern residential buildings in rural areas” (Phase-II). The cost of the project is US$300 million.

Uzbekistan is also implementing the project “Strengthening the material and technical base of higher educational institutions” worth US$44.48 million with the participation of the IDB. The project is fully funded from the bank.

The Saudi Development Fund issued a loan for US$26.36 million for the project “Reconstruction of the water supply system of the Kasan and Muborek regional centers and rural settlements adjacent to the water pipeline from the Kitabo-Shahrisabz underground water field”. The cost of the project is US$52.81 million.
