Uzbekistan Signs Agreements on Infrastructure Development and Public-Private Partnerships
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the III Roundtable on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) themed “Mobilizing Private Capital through Public-Private Partnerships,” several agreements were signed aimed at developing infrastructure and attracting private investment into strategic projects.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), ACWA Power, and JSC “Uzenergosbyt” signed agreements on partial risk guarantees for a number of energy projects. These include the construction of a 200 MW wind power plant and a 100 MW energy storage system in Karakalpakstan, as well as two solar photovoltaic plants in Samarkand region — Sazagan Solar 1 and Sazagan Solar 2 — each with 500 MW capacity and 334 MW energy storage systems.
Additionally, an agreement was reached between Miahona Company and the Ministry of Water Resources on the modernization of 135 pumping stations in Karakalpakstan, with subsequent transfer to private management.
A “State Support Agreement” was signed between the South Korean company Incheon and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, covering the modernization of Urgench International Airport with transfer of the facility to private management.
A bilateral Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Asian Development Bank.
The Ministry of Health and Al Arkkan Company agreed to cooperate on the project “Creating an Integrated National Food Security and Health Protection System” in Tashkent and Fergana cities. The Ministry of Health also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with K-dot Company on the project “Enhancing Nurse Qualifications and Facilitating Overseas Employment.”
Key terms were agreed upon between Saudi Tabreed and JSC “Teplosnabzheniye” for the modernization and management of the district heating system in Nukus.
Finally, as a result of an international tender, AKSA Company was officially awarded the project for modernization of electricity distribution networks in Samarkand region with subsequent transfer to private management.
