Uzbekistan Signs Agreement with South Korea’s JADAM to Promote Organic Farming
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The government of Uzbekistan has taken a significant step in agricultural innovation by signing a technical agreement with the South Korean company JADAM, a global leader in ultra-low-cost organic farming.
The agreement aims to reduce farmers’ dependence on chemical pesticides and fertilizers, while improving food safety and public health.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced the partnership with JADAM to prevent the misuse of agrochemicals and implement organic farming methods that substantially lower production costs.
On December 9, 2025, Deputy Minister Jamshidjon Abduzukhurov visited the company’s headquarters in Gongju and signed the “Agreement on the Dissemination of Ultra-Low-Cost Organic Farming Technologies” with JADAM President Yangsan Cho.
This agreement represents a rare example of a “values-based alliance,” where a government official directly selects a private company’s technology for national agricultural implementation, rather than relying on traditional official development assistance (ODA) focused on large-scale infrastructure projects.
During the signing ceremony, Abduzukhurov noted that Uzbek farmers often use chemical pesticides and fertilizers without fully understanding their potential risks to public health. He emphasized that adopting JADAM’s technologies will increase awareness of agricultural safety, support sustainable farming, and protect the environment, while simultaneously reducing farmers’ production costs.
The parties approved a concrete action plan, which includes key initiatives to promote ultra-low-cost organic farming technologies among farmers and integrate sustainable agricultural practices at the national level.
